The copper clad aluminum wire (CCA) is a bimetallic wire which uses aluminum wire as the core and copper as its outer layer. This allows the two metal materials to be used on a wire, which not only has the excellent electrical conductivity and high-frequency transmission characteristics of copper, but also has the light weight and soft characteristics of aluminum. So that the copper clad aluminum wire features in good electrical conductivity, low density,softness, corrosion resistance, easy welding, and low price.
We can provide copper clad aluminum wire product by electroplating method and coating method according to customers’ requirements.
Among them, the electroplating method uses the principle of electrodeposition to plate a copper layer on the surface of the aluminum wire in a copper salt solution. The electroplated wire blanks are then stretched and heat-treated to become copper clad aluminum wires of various specifications and properties.
The coating method is to pretreat the aluminum wire and copper strip separately, and then wrap the copper strip on the surface of the aluminum wire by argon arc welding, and then draw the surface of the copper and aluminum to achieve a good combination. So as to get copper clad aluminum wires with required specifications and performance.
Compared with pure copper/aluminum wire, the copper clad aluminum wire has the following advantages:
(1) Light weight, the density of copper clad aluminum wire is 37%-40% of pure copper, that is, under the same conditions, the length of copper clad aluminum wire is (2.45~2.7) times that of pure copper wire, which can greatly save copper.
(2) Due to its light weight and small arc sag, it is more suitable for the production process of physical foamed high-frequency cables, which can ensure the concentricity of the insulation. Due to its light weight, it is easy to be transported and installated, it can also reduce laying costs;
(3) Copper clad aluminum wire is softer than pure copper wire and has better bending performance than pure copper wire, which can reduce cable impedance changes caused by small bending radius;
(4) Copper clad aluminum wire has better conductivity than pure aluminum wire. Because high-frequency signals have the characteristics of "skin effect", copper-clad aluminum wire has the same conductivity as pure copper wire when transmitting high-frequency signals;
(5) When the CATV coaxial radio frequency cable uses an aluminum tube as the outer conductor, the thermal expansion and elastic modulus of the copper-clad aluminum wire and the aluminum tube are close, thereby improving the stability and reliability of the cable.
We can provide opper clad aluminum wires of various specifications, soft and hard state with different copper volume ratio and conductivity, which can meet the requirements of ASTM B566 and other standards.
Copper clad aluminum wire is suitable for CATV network coaxial cable inner conductor, communication cable inner conductor, it also can be used for electric welding cable, automobile battery wire, electric motor coil, etc.
